The Story of Nirvana
Live! Tonight! Sold
Out!

Nirvana is the greatest band ever to have come out of Seattle, Washington. They are one of the best bands in the history of music and their legacy will remain in people's memories for decades to come. Much like Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles are legends, Nirvana too will become legends 20 or 30 years down the road.
Krist, Dave, and Kurt
Nirvana's most famous line-up consisted of Kurt Cobain:lead guitar/lead vocals Krist Novoselic:bass and Dave Grohl:drums/back-up vocals. Nirvana's beginnings go back to 1985 when Kurt and Krist first met each other and started to jam. The name of the band and line-up was different back then, but as time went on Bliss, Ted Ed Fred, Fecal Matter, etc. were no more, instead they became Nirvana. With Chad Channing on drums and Jason Everman's $600 they recorded Bleach. Even though Jason was credited with playing rhythmn guitar on this record he was not on it. It sold around 35,000 copies and was popular on college radio. Later, in 1991 long after Everman was kicked out of the band, Kurt and Krist kicked out Chad and brought in Dave Grohl, the drummer for the Wasington DC band Scream and that was the end of the "Bleach" era and the beginning of the "Nevermind" era.

The three of them then recorded Nevermind under a major label:DGC. From there Nevermind sold millions of copies and sales for Bleach sky-rocketed and Nirvana was dragged kicking and whining into mainstream pop. They hated being rock stars and hated their new audience...jocks, preppies, yuppies, homophobes, sexists, racists ,well you get the picture. In 1992 they decided to record an album which would try to get rid off their new and awful audience. The album was Incesticide and it did get rid of some of their unwanted audience but not all. Then in 1993 the band recorded and released In Utero.

This record would be Nirvana's final studio album. They recruited Germs guitarist Pat Smear to play rhythmn guitar and they went on tour in support of their new album. As time went on Kurt's life was falling apart. With the bitchy Courtney Love as his wife, awful stomach pains, drug addiction, a fascination with guns, and depression,Kurt Cobain at 27 years of age commited suicide. His body was found April 8th, 1994 of a shotgun wound to the head. Many people including the police say it had to have been a suicide...others however said it was a homicide. The truth is, the world may never know. But, Nirvana's legacy as being one of the most influential bands in history will continue and most importantly we will always have their music.
